Autonomous University

Chelsea visits the University of Michigan’s MCity to find out about the technology behind autonomous vehicles.

In this episode of Fully Charged, Chelsea takes us to the University of Michigan’s MCity, her favourite place to nerd out about the technology behind autonomous vehicles.

MCity operates the world’s first purpose-built proving ground for testing the performance and safety of connected and automated vehicle technologies under controlled and realistic conditions. Chelsea chats with associate director Greg McGuire about how they test AV tech for the real world and the hype vs reality around 5G.

She also talks with research specialist Monica Jones about how motion sickness has become such an important factor in automated vehicle development. And her research toward making people more comfortable not just with the idea of AVs, but actually riding in them.
