SYDNEY, February 12th, 2024: ‘Everything Electric AUSTRALIA’ delivered on its pre-event hype, bringing the biggest electric test drive programme ever held in the Southern Hemisphere, to thousands of attendees at Sydney Showground this past weekend.
The brainchild of British YouTubers – the Fully Charged SHOW – the organiser hosted its 13th expo globally, and its second in Australia, and attracted 17,440 attendees to Sydney Showground from February 9th-11th. Having previously hosted Fully Charged LIVE Australia at the ICC in March 2023, the second-year event broadened its appeal as Everything Electric AUSTRALIA – extending the event to three days and moving venues to triple its floor-space and test drive capacity. The changes paid off, with the bigger and better show delivering a 30 percent increase in attendee numbers.
Packed with visitor attractions, it was arguably the electric cars that stole the show, with an estimated 5,000 test drives delivered through a combination of car manufacturers and car leasing companies over the three-day event. More than 100 EVs were either on display or available to test drive at the show, from Polestar to Peugeot, BYD to BMW, and Audi to MG, to name a few. Meanwhile, Renault used the show as an opportunity to unveil its Megane E-Tech and Kangoo models, while Hyundai gave Aussie punters their first chance to test drive the Hyundai Ioniq 5N.
That said, this year’s Everything Electric AUSTRALIA was about much more than just cars. An array of other attractions included a packed schedule of talks and panels across two theatres, the Home Energy Advice Team, a Zero Carbon Kitchen, the Commercial Vehicle Zone, Micro-Mobility Zone and Electric Alley. Overall, the expo welcomed approximately 100 exhibitors, showcasing clean energy, home energy and electric vehicle-related technologies.
In a highlight for Everything Electric AUSTRALIA, the Hon. Chris Bowen, Minister for Climate Change and Energy, gave a ministerial address to a packed auditorium, which showed its support of recently proposed New Vehicle Emissions Standards for the Australian market.
Dan Caesar, CEO of the Fully Charged Show (and Everything Electric), said:
“Australia gave us the warmest welcome possible, and when we saw the queues snaking around the outside of the building, we knew we were in for a busy few days. We’ve seen strong support across the US, Canada, Europe and the UK and Australian consumers are no different in showing clear demand for an ‘electric home and motor show’ and share our commitment to powering progress towards a brighter, more sustainable tomorrow.
Harnessing the power of our global YouTube audience of current and prospective EV buyers, we’re uniquely placed to deliver and grow Everything Electric expos around the world. Next stop: Everything Electric LONDON in just six weeks time!”
Everything Electric AUSTRALIA will return to the Sydney Showground from March 7th-9th, 2025 and on-site rebooking indicates that the show will double in size, yet again, and include an even greater breadth of electric technologies and car manufacturers being showcased.
