This £36K, 300+ Mile EV Has a WHAT?!

£36K. 300+ miles. 180kW charging… and a built-in freezer?!

In this episode Sarah Aubrey ( @ElectrifyThis ) and Tom Gan ( @LudicrousFeed ) get an early look at the GAC Aion V, a mid-size electric SUV that is coming to the UK (available to pre-order from 23 April 2026).

Known as the “Chinese Toyota,” GAC have ensured that the Aion V arrives British-proofed with suspension tuned for UK roads, improved repairability, and a competitive starting price. But the real question, is it any good?!

From rapid 180kW charging and a 300+ mile range, to one of the most unusual features we’ve ever tested (yes… the freezer), we put it through its paces to see if this could be a genuine EV bargain or another buzzy newcomer.

Key Specs:

  • Starting price: £36,450
  • Battery: 75.26 kWh (LFP)
  • Range: ~317 miles (WLTP)
  • DC charging: up to 180kW
